| Welcome to Practice Room 1! Please state the name of your character and the location you want to start out. For Instance, you would post: "I am playing Corrin, and I want to start out in N-8..." Then we wait for the others to join, once I feel that everyone who is interested in the skirmish has joined, we will start the battle!

| Woohoo! Let's GET READY TO SKIRMISH!!!!! Okay, I placed Geoff on the board, I assumed he would want to be where I put him. ENCOUNTERYou notice two groups of scaled, horned creatures at the East and West entrances. They don't look happy to see you, let's roll INITIATIVE! We will be on the honor system, since this is less about the win, and more about learning, we will roll our own die. If you don't have any, shame on you. Private Message me with you results to keep forum clutter down, unless someone has a better suggestion. ROLLING INITIATIVETo determine a combat encounter’s initiative order, roll initiative. Roll 1d20 and add the following: ✦ One-half your level ✦ Your Dexterity modifier ✦ Any bonuses or penalties that apply The result is your initiative for this encounter.

| I think I figured this out, instead of quick reply, use the regular reply and you can click on the six sided icon to choose your die. We can roll like this, I hope and then write in our bonuses here. - Lou the DM carried out 1 launched of one (Twenty-Sided.) :
- 5
Okay so the above sentence makes no sense, but I didn't write the code, so don't blame me. but it works at least. Note that if you edit your response, it will re-roll it!

Whew! Okay MF is up with a 19! Nicely done! Okay so have a look at your character sheets and take actions accordingly
THE MAIN ACTION TYPES
✦ Standard Action: Standard actions are the core of combat. You can normally take one standard action on your turn. Examples: most attack powers, charging an enemy, using your second wind.
✦ Move Action: Move actions involve movement from one place to another. You can normally take them only on your turn. Examples: walking, shifting.
✦ Minor Action: Minor actions are enabling actions, simple actions that usually lead to more exciting actions. You can normally take them only on your turn.
Examples: pulling an item from a pouch or a sheath, opening a door or a treasure chest, picking up an item in your space or in an unoccupied square within reach.
✦ Free Action: Free actions take almost no time or effort. You can take as many free actions as you want during your or another combatant’s turn. The DM can restrict the number of free actions in a turn.
Examples: speaking a few sentences, dropping a held item, letting go of a grabbed enemy.
Okay so now that you have read that, what CAN you do on your turn....
ACTIONS ON YOUR TURN
✦ Your Actions: You get the following three actions on your turn: Standard action, Move action, Minor action
✦ Free Actions: You can take any number of free actions on your turn.
✦ Any Order: You can take your actions in any order you wish, and you can skip any of them.
✦ Substitute Actions: You can take a move action or a minor action instead of a standard action, and you can take a minor action instead of a move action.
✦ Extra Action: You can take an extra action by spending an action point (page 286).
✦ Other Combatants’ Actions: Other combatants can take free actions on your turn, and you might take actions that trigger immediate actions or opportunity actions from other combatants.
With all that said, MF is UP!

| MF will go through the pillars to J-4, and use Divine Challenge on #2. (I think that is it, right?)
As you can tell, Sam is writing this (MF is one the phone) and we are not sure about his; MF moving from I7 to J4 is the Move action, and him using the Divine Challenge is a Minor action? So does he still get a Standard Action? Could he use it to attack or could he use say, another power like Holy Strike (which is a standard action move). Can you use two powers on a turn?

| Great question and great first move. Divine Challenge (and Combat Challenge for the Fighters) is the function that allows the Paladin to control the field. The answer is yes, you can use the Divine Challenge (which is a minor action) AND another standard action.
If you want to use Holy Strike on Kolbold #2, then role it!

| Okay so let us see what MF did in total... First he moved four squares to Kolbold #2. Then he used Divine Challenge, one of his Paladin powers, as a minor action action, marking the kolbold. (Marking is something that is done through certain powers that gives the target -2 to hit if it tries to attack anyone but the person that marked it) Then as a standard action he used: Holy StrikeHe rolled a natural 19 He would add +5 bonus vs. the Kobold's AC (Armor Class) Why +5? +2 for strength, +3 for being proficent with a short sword His total attack would be 24, plenty to hit this kobold Now for damage- He would role 1d6+Str for radiant (Holy-type) damage. He rolled a two, plus +2 for str, for a total of four points of damage to this little bugger, plus 3 more, since he marked him with Divine Challenge, he also can add his Wis mod, as per the description of the power. I dont know what the second dmg role was for, so disregard it. You hit Kobold #2 for 7 points of radiant damage. Dropping the little nasty. Good job. Any questions? If not, you're up B! | |

| Most excellent Corrin :-) Riardon, will select his nearest enemy #5 to be his quarry, a minor action as per 'Hunter's Quarry'. In addition to one of his feats, 'Hunter's Quarry' gives Riardon an additional 1d8 of damage per round to his quarry on a seuccessful attack. He will then use use his at-will power 'Careful Attack' as his standard action. 'Careful Attack' gives Riardon a total of +10 to his attack vs AC against his target and does 1d10+4 damage. Total damage dice, 1d8 + 1d10+4 on a sucessful attack. After taking this minor action and standard action, riardon will take a 5 foot step to his right to square E10, as his movement for this turn. See below for the results of the 3 dice rolls. - Blaine carried out 1 launched of one (Twenty-Sided.) :
- 11
+10
- Blaine carried out 1 launched of one (Eight-sided.) :
- 6
- Blaine carried out 1 launched of one (Ten-sided.) :

| Riardon points his finger at the scrawny kolbold and shoots an arrow at his quarry. Sinking deep into his neck, the arrow finds its mark and drops the reptile humanoid. Nicely done B! Sam is up! | |

| I'd like to scoot on over to square J-8 and use the At-Will Power of Ray of Frost (not the wimpy 3rd edition type) on Kobold #6. Here is my attack rolll (+2 vs. Fort) and my damage (if aplicable) would be 1d6 +2, and the target would be slowed until my next turn. - Sam carried out 1 launched of one (Twenty-Sided.) :

| So I'm gonna go on ahead and move to J-3 for my movement action. My first question is is it ok for me to move from i-4 to j-3? I know I will ake an attack and thats cool with me. Next I would like to use my at-will power "cleave" on kolbold #3. Next question is does the cleave go to a certain person or do I get to choose in this case? if so I choose kobold #4. | |
